Hall County staff shows updated tax asking and proposes reserve transfers as board refines 2026–27 budget

Staff outlined standard transfers: $500,000 to miscellaneous general to support property taxes, a $250,000 annual transfer to increase general cash reserves (which for the current cycle was implemented as a $500,000 increase on the sheet), and a $1,770,000 transfer to building and land reserves. Commissioners debated shifting some building/land line items into reserves to better meet the state auditor's 25% recommended cash reserve and asked staff to update packet pages to show proposed adjustments. The board also discussed budgeting for a countywide salary study and agreed staff should return with firm cost estimates.
