A presenter updated the committee on community outreach efforts including a planned Thanksgiving turkey distribution and youth hunting programs.
He said the chapter ordered roughly 120 frozen turkeys (10–12 pounds each) that will be shared with veterans, organizations, schools and churches across the county. "We will providing 120 10 to 12 pound frozen turkeys ... to various organizations," the presenter said, adding that roughly a third would go directly to veterans or veteran organizations.
The presenter also previewed September events: a Sullivan County Sportsmen's Federation youth event around Sept. 13 and the county’s youth pheasant hunt that follows New York State Department of Environmental Conservation scheduling. He noted outreach to new audiences (women, first-time hunters, veterans and disabled hunters) and said the chapter is close to a $5,000 donation goal required for a Cabela’s recognition wall, with about $1,300 remaining.
The update was informational; the committee did not vote on funding or formal sponsorship during the meeting.
