Assessor finds Chappell home unlivable after basement collapse; recommends steep reduction in building value

County Assessor Michele Bartlett reported an inspection was conducted on June 30, 2026, and recommended adjusting the home's assessed value to $13,585 "due to the extremely poor condition and the basement caving in creating a structural hazard." Bartlett stated the home is unlivable in its current condition.
The board took the assessor's inspection-based recommendation under advisement and will consider a final valuation decision at the Board of Equalization meeting scheduled for July 21, 2026.
