Maupin council approves consent agenda and authorizes outside counsel for LUBA matter

The Maupin City Council approved its consent agenda as amended during the Sept. 24 meeting, voting 7-0 after Councilor Kathy Peck moved to adopt the slate and Councilor Shelby Dumire seconded. The vote list read: Ayes — Carol Beatty, Shelby Dumire, Tom Troutman, Mike Foreaker, Matthias Kesler, Kathy Peck and Randy Bechtol; Nays — none.
After an executive session under ORS 192.660(2)(h) about litigation, the council returned to open session and authorized City Attorney Ruben Cleaveland to retain outside counsel. Councilor Tom Troutman moved and Councilor Kathy Peck seconded a motion to hire attorney Tommy Brooks with the law firm Cabel Huston to work on a LUBA matter; the motion passed unanimously. Mayor Carol Beatty adjourned the meeting at 8:26 p.m.; the council scheduled its next regular meeting for Oct. 22, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
