McCook County approves Hanson water permit, reduces microsurfacing contract by $16,820

Vice‑Chairman Dean Koch opened the Oct. 8 meeting and the commission approved a water utility permit for Hanson Rural Water System to install potable water lines at three crossing locations east of 431st Avenue.
Hwy Superintendent Travis Raap presented the permit. Commissioner Steve Gordon moved to approve the Hanson permit; Chuck Mehlbrech seconded. The vote recorded Ayes: Gordon, Mehlbrech, Koch; Nay: Marc Dick; Absent: Charles Liesinger. The motion carried.
Raap also presented a change order for the county’s microsurfacing project. Quantities were adjusted downward, reducing the contract by $16,820.60 to a revised total of $163,897.78. Commissioner Marc Dick moved to authorize Vice‑Chairman Koch to sign the change order; the motion carried. The board also authorized Koch to sign the McCook County Transportation Plan Certification at Raap’s request.
The commission approved the items as routine county maintenance and permitting actions; no public comment was recorded on these measures. The microsurfacing contractor adjustment and the Hanson permit are now on file with county highway records.
