Grants administration ramps up outreach; broadband progress expected in late August

Heather reported Grants Administration has been meeting with the Chamber of Commerce to offer training and assistance so local businesses and municipalities can move from concepts to fundable projects. She said the department is monitoring many grant opportunities and distributing notices to municipalities for programs such as the Community Forest Conservation Grant and state recreation and environmental facility programs.
Heather said broadband work is continuing countywide and that residents should see increased activity by the end of August as the county moves into next implementation phases. The department plans additional trainings and tailored support to help towns prepare competitive applications.
Legislators were encouraged to flag municipal projects that might fit grant programs so county staff can assist those towns and villages.
