Heather (Commissioner) reported a redesign at Kalanchoe Park to reduce paved footprint without extra cost and said county crews are building an initial three-mile trail loop at Lake Superior State Park. She described strong public use of new canoe investments and ongoing construction work.
Heather also described a proposed three-year permit for a food truck operator (Rell's Kitchen) so the county would not have to reauthorize seasonal vendors every year. "So we said, let's just get something for 3 years," she said, arguing the longer permit eases administration and helps secure vendor availability in parks for weekends.
The legislature moved related park resolutions as part of the regular agenda and supported the items in voice vote. The projects are proceeding to required environmental review and lead-agency determinations before construction.
