Human Resources staff reported active recruitment efforts and training updates to the Sullivan County Human Resources Committee. "I'm happy to report we have roughly 80 people currently scheduled for those exams, which are 2 days next week at Sullivan County Community College for the physical agility," Julie said, describing recruitment and scheduling for sheriff's office on-boarding and the October academy.
Julie said staff personally called about 130 candidates to ensure participation and that outreach at the local Bagel Festival produced additional leads for county hiring. She also reported one response to a defensive driving RFP from the National Safety Council and said she is comparing that offer to training via the county's workers' compensation carrier (PERMA) to secure equivalent courses and possible discounts; the defensive driving course will be offered online and must be completed within 30 days to meet DMV six-hour requirements.
