Selectboard weighs culvert-first approach as paving deferred; Windy Rise grant needs additional funding

Road Foreman Josh Dryden told the Selectboard the town plans to replace culverts this year and defer broad paving projects until next year because the $430,000 paving budget is insufficient to pave whole roads. Taylor Prouty proposed using half the paving budget this year for culverts and adding the remainder to next year’s budget so whole-road paving can be pursued later.
Officials also discussed the Windy Rise Structures project, which currently has $200,000 in existing funding but needs an additional $400,000. Town Administrator Aileen Tulloch and Dryden noted the project would need to start next spring to expend existing grant funds and that the grant expires on 12/30/2027 if not used.
