Recycling Coordinator John Hurd reported the electronics recycling event drew over 100 cars and that the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Day on June 6 at Flood Brook School expects over 200 cars. He said the Mountain Operations Director at Stratton Mountain inquired about the Town leasing a commercial biodigester composter the resort is not using; the unit could process most of the transfer station’s food waste but would require 200-amp power and water service. Hurd said the proposed lease cost would be minimal ($1) and that Stratton would like to use some of the resulting compost. The Selectboard expressed interest and asked Hurd to determine water requirements.
The board did not make a final decision but supported staff follow-up to assess feasibility, infrastructure needs, and any operational or shared-use arrangements with Stratton Mountain.
