Selectboard approves tree removals and an access permit ahead of culvert work on Little Pond and Boynton roads

The Selectboard moved to hire Save a Tree to complete previously scoped work along Boynton Road for an amount not to exceed $9,700 after confirming that the proposed amount falls below the town’s $10,000 RFP threshold. Taylor Prouty will finalize scope and pricing with the contractor and the Town Administrator was authorized to sign the contract on the town’s behalf.
Road Foreman Josh Dryden reported that culvert replacement is required where ash-tree removal is planned, and the board approved an access permit application by Chris Chobor for a modification of existing access on east Little Pond Road. Separately, the board accepted a proposal to remove a large ash tree near the access area and a group of ash trees above Chaves Road; the work will be funded from the Emerald Ash Borer fund and is expected to require a three- to four-hour road closure. The motion to authorize ash-tree removal by Save a Tree for up to $6,610 passed unanimously.
