Local dentist urges council to keep fluoride in Cheney water

Riddle said that, based on years of clinical experience and existing research, fluoridation helps strengthen enamel and reduces cavities, particularly among children who lack regular access to dental care. "Fluoride has been proven to help strengthen enamel, prevent cavities," he said, noting the mineral is among the most studied public-health interventions in the United States and estimating the research base spans roughly 85 years.
Riddle offered to provide additional information or to meet with the council and staff to discuss the evidence. The mayor closed the in-person public comment period after hearing the submitted and live remarks.
