Mobile library to begin April school stops; ribbon-cutting set for April 22

The Sandy Library announced a soft rollout of a new mobile library, with the first public ribbon-cutting planned for April 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. and initial stops at Firwood Elementary School and Pioneer Mobile Home Park, a staff member said during the board meeting.
The staff member said the vehicle will visit every elementary school in the district during April and will also make three special event stops including a Dia del Niño program, a day at the Sandy Library and a visit near Welch’s school site. "There will be cupcakes and some library swag to give away," the staff member said, and encouraged board members to attend and speak at the ribbon-cutting.
Staff described a phased outreach plan: summer stops will add day cares for story times and a fall expansion to preschools. The staff member also noted plans to take the vehicle to retirement communities, naming Avamere in Sandy as a booked stop on April 24. The board was told the full schedule and a request form for community stops will appear on the library website ahead of the first stop.
