Lowell marks Colombia’s 216th Independence Day with proclamations, music and a folkloric festival

"Bienvenidos a esta celebración de la independencia de Colombia, número 216," the Moderator told attendees as performers María Camila and Ismael led the anthems. Father William offered an invocation asking for unity and blessings for Colombia and the gathered community.
Organizers presented a formal city proclamation and recognized several local leaders and volunteers, citing years of service in housing outreach, youth soccer coaching and cultural programming. The event also featured raffle drawings with items donated by area businesses, musical sets by Daniela and Jefferson, and reminders that the flag procession and a traditional photo on the City Hall steps would conclude the evening.
The celebration included public-service announcements about monthly workshops on housing, education and banking offered by the Colombian community committee. The Moderator closed the program by thanking sponsors and attendees and inviting everyone to join the folkloric parade scheduled to depart at 5 p.m.
