Board advances multiple weapons policies to second reading to align with HEA 1177

The Chair summarized the change as accommodating provisions in HEA 1177 and asked for questions before taking a vote. A motion to move policy 32-17 to second reading passed, “Vote passes 4 to 0,” the Chair announced.
Board members then moved policy 42-17 (support staff), policy 72-17 (students and visitors), and policy 5772 (related weapons code) to second reading in sequence; each motion carried unanimously. The Chair framed the set as consistent updates across personnel categories to reflect state law. The board did not adopt final policy language at this session; members advanced the items for a subsequent reading and final vote.
