Policy chair Adam told the board the committee advanced a package that includes code-of-ethics updates for board members and language on background checks and fingerprinting. "The initial impetus was the background checks and the fingerprinting," Adam said, explaining Rockingham County policy informed parts of the draft.
Members asked for a side-by-side comparison to see where the proposed language differs from current policy and for staff to supply clarifications on particular regulations under the policy cluster. Several members requested additional time for discussion; the board agreed to allot 20 minutes at the next meeting to consider the policy package and related regulations.
The policy package is scheduled for first reading and further committee review; no final policy vote occurred during the agenda review.
