Public Works installs airport water meter under Port of Whitman agreement; remote-meter replacements continue

During the April 7 meeting Public Works reported it is continuing a program to replace old water meters with new remote-reading units. Hammer said the city installed a water meter at the airport as part of the Port of Whitman water-rights agreement; the port will be charged for basic usage and for any use exceeding 5,000 gallons per day.
Hammer also said he will meet later in the week with FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Washington Department of Ecology to coordinate on water and flood-related matters. The council received the update as informational; no action or funding decisions were recorded at the meeting.
