Staff estimated a typical usable lifespan of four to six years for district laptops and said the purchase excludes additional software and accessories. Directors acknowledged the tradeoff between instructional staffing and capital technology purchases and asked staff to provide more detail on device specifications, lifecycle expectations and procurement justification ahead of the consent vote.
The board did not take a final procurement vote during the agenda review; staff indicated the contract derives from a state purchasing agreement and the full procurement will be presented as a consent/contract item if required next week.
