Colfax police report ACCESS audit, staffing updates and 14 pounds from drug take-back

Police Chief Mike Melcher reported to the council that the department will undergo an ACCESS Audit beginning the following day. He said an entry-level candidate’s background investigation remains in progress and that Officer Cody Johnson has three weeks left of field-training (FTO).
Melcher also told the council the department assisted with a drug take-back on April 26 that collected about 14 pounds of prescription medications. He reported having arranged removal of several junk cars from locations around town as part of routine code- or nuisance-abatement assistance.
No formal council action was taken on the police report; the council received the update and moved on to other agenda items.
