"Our recommendation is Health eJourneys by CATCH (catch.org) paired with ODE lessons," staff said, describing the choice as a digital platform used in many districts that allows families direct online access to lesson content. Staff noted the ODE released sample comprehensive health lessons to the Open Learning Hub and said the district would pair those PDFs with the CATCH digital materials to cover the full set of standards, including substance use and prevention.
Presenters emphasized three guiding principles for health instruction: a safe and inclusive learning environment, instruction that is medically accurate and research-based, and practical usefulness. Staff described a standards-first review process and the plan to make scope-and-sequence descriptions more digestible so parents can understand what will be taught in each lesson. The board received this as a first read and will consider the matter again at the second read in May.
