Elementary teams showcase Oregon Battle of the Books success

Multiple elementary schools presented their Oregon Battle of the Books teams to the Sherwood SD 88J board, describing practice routines and recent wins at regional and state levels; principals praised student effort and volunteer support.
Principals and student team members from Archer Glen, Middleton, Ridges and Hawkes View presented brief accounts of their Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) journeys to the board.
"I am Sarah Wofter, the proud principal of Archer Glen, and I am here with 3 out of 4 of our 4th grade OBOB champions," Principal Sarah Wofter told the board and introduced students who described strategies such as assigned-book responsibilities, reading journals, and regular team meetings. Middleton principal Natasha Edinger introduced the Reading Robots Return and described 20 teams participating at Middleton this year; student Max said he began reading in March 2025 and read all 16 books multiple times.
Principals and students emphasized teamwork and sportsmanship. Ridges Elementary and Hawkes View principals also thanked volunteers and coaches; Hawkes View highlighted a state-level finish. Board members invited the student visitors to take a photo with flags and thanked them for attending.
The board received the presentations as informational recognition; no actions were required.
