Contractor raises concerns about town concrete work; council asks public works to follow up

At public comment, Taub Brothers vice president Bryce (Thout) told council he had documented instances of improperly placed or finished concrete on town projects and warned such defects would impose future costs on taxpayers if not corrected.
Bryce identified technical concerns including improper curing, use of water and steel trowels on exterior concrete, damage to adjacent stone, and pouring in the rain; he said these problems have been seen over the last month in his neighborhood and adjacent areas and presented photos and videos to staff. He recommended that improperly placed concrete be redone at no cost to taxpayers and suggested payment reductions for work not meeting specifications.
Public works staff and the town manager acknowledged contact with the commenter. Town Manager David and staff said Public Works would follow up, that public-works and development specifications sometimes differ, and that staff would report back to the commenter and council on findings and any remedial actions.
