Castle Rock council directs staff to eliminate obsolete no-knock list, keep optional sticker

Lisa (staff) reviewed the town's current solicitors/canvassers rules and said the no-knock list has become unmanageable: more than 11,000 addresses remain on the register and the list contains many outdated entries. Staff recommended scrapping the required list and relying instead on visible no-knock stickers or no-solicitor signs to indicate a resident's preference.
"What staff is recommending is that we, revise our ordinance to remove the requirement of the no knock list," Lisa said, and she told council solicitors would still need to register and pass preliminary checks. Council agreed it is reasonable to continue offering an optional sticker for residents but to simplify enforcement by removing the mandatory list requirement. The council directed staff to prepare an ordinance to that effect and the motion passed 6-0.
