Chief Mike Melcher reported to the Colfax City Council that three patrol cars now carry new decals and that Officer Cody Johnson has finished field training and obtained radar certification; Johnson is assigned to Thursday–Sunday day shifts.
Melcher said the department lost a candidate in the final phase of a hiring process when the applicant accepted an offer with another agency. He also told the council the department has received “numerous complaints” about dogs running loose and excessive barking and that patrols have been increased on Thorn and Cedar in response to speeding reports.
