Peter Garvey said the acquisition will displace four families and estimated the relocation process will take "anywhere from 4 to 8 months," depending on how the process unfolds. Garvey said the city will contact tenants after acquisition and begin relocation planning with a relocation specialist.
Garvey told the committee the city issued a request for proposals for relocation services but received only one response from a contractor with prior experience in the city. He said the city will work to keep displaced families as close as possible to their current residences during relocation efforts, and that staff will return with further details on relocation timing and assistance eligibility.
