Design and traffic concerns raised for planned 138,000-square-foot Miranda School

Peter Garvey said the new Miranda School is planned to be about 138,000 square feet — smaller than Deberry Swan, which he said is about 155,000 square feet — and will include roughly 170 parking spaces for staff and visitors. "It's a lot of parking... There's a 170 parking spaces, per staff and visitors," Garvey said.
Garvey said traffic planning is the project's biggest challenge and staff are working heavily on traffic plans to "make sure we get it mostly right." Committee members asked questions about street ownership and how traffic would be handled; staff said some adjacent streets are privately owned, and the city owns a four-acre parcel on Chestnut Street related to the site context.
