On handbooks, staff recommended aligning digital device agreements K–12, adding smartwatches to the list of personal electronic devices, clarifying wellness guidance for treats, adding campus supervision language (campus closed at 3:30 unless supervised), and including language that allows staff to inspect devices used to make unauthorized recordings. Regarding drones, staff said specific altitude limits were not defined and that FAA rules would apply; an anecdote about a small drone losing contact over the high school was offered as one reason the district sought a policy. The board set a schedule for additional review with a second reading in August and final consideration in September.
