Riverside High School authorized as an IB World School; district highlights staff training and student opportunities

Riverside High School is now an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, district leaders told the board. School leaders said the authorization covers both the Diploma Programme and the Career‑related Programme and that Riverside will offer at least one IB course to every high-school student.
"We are officially an authorized IB World School," said the Riverside presenter. Staff described the IB as an international program focused on inquiry, critical thinking and global perspectives, and said it will allow students to earn college credit and qualify for IB-related scholarships. The district reported that 23 staff members attended roughly 40 IB trainings over the prior summers to meet IB coursework requirements.
Students and board members praised the achievement. "It's such a heavy lift...three leaders and a team of teachers opened a brand new high school and got certified in international baccalaureate so quickly," Director Bridal said. Riverside students noted the school has about 170 students this year and that clubs, athletics and national honor society chapters are growing. District staff said Riverside will undergo re-evaluation every five years as part of IB authorization maintenance.
What happens next: staff will integrate IB requirements into scheduling and curriculum, launch community outreach to explain IB options and continue professional learning for teachers as students begin Diploma and Career‑related courses in their junior year.
