At the start of the meeting, Brian Hodges, speaking on behalf of El Campo Youth Baseball and the Hook Line and Dinger Committee, thanked city staff and volunteers for their work supporting a recent youth baseball fundraiser and tournament.
Hodges told the council he lives at 1206 Karen Street and said the event drew significant outside attendance: "If you take out the El Campo teams that were entered in this tournament, there was over 500 out of town families that visited El Campo this weekend." Council members, including Councilman David Hodges, praised the organizers and noted full restaurants and increased local spending during the event. David Hodges said the city "owes them a whole lot of gratitude."
