County approves $5,000 donation to Friends of the City Park for pickleball courts

The Caribou County commissioners approved a $5,000 donation to the Friends of the City Park to support construction of four pickleball courts at Soda Springs City Park.
Laura Lind of the Friends of the City Park told the board A+ Construction donated asphalt and that the group is "working to raise $27,000 for striping, nets and fencing." Four courts will be installed where the tennis courts previously were; the group held an opening tournament July 1 with 14 teams participating. Commissioner Bryce Somsen moved to offer a $5,000 contribution from P.I.L.T. miscellaneous donations and Commissioner Marty McCullough seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The Friends said they will pursue additional grants and fundraising to complete fencing and net installation.
