Council approves plan and funding approach for Fire Station 156 and logistics facility

The chief said the logistics facility will centralize vehicle maintenance, equipment storage and emergency-vehicle technician functions. The station/logistics concept is approximately 26,000 square feet; construction costs were presented in the range of about $20.5 million with additional items and tie-ins to water-line upgrades. The town previously set aside $6 million for this project, and the plan includes impact fees, a $6 million internal loan, proceeds from recently issued COPs (~$8.3M), and other funds.
Staff said the station will require about 12 personnel to staff initial operations (roughly $2.5 million annually) and that the apparatus purchases (engine, brush truck) are already in procurement or delivered. Council voted to authorize the project to proceed with the recommended funding plan; roll call was unanimous.
