Planning commission approves 2025 annual report noting excise-tax reporting exception

A planning-staff presenter asked the commission to approve the 2025 Planning Commission annual report after correcting a clerical typo in Table 3. The presenter noted a substantive update in section 7 (page 12) on the collection and expenditure of development impact fees, surcharges and excise taxes, and said St. Mary's County was granted an exception by the General Assembly in 2023 that permits excise-tax revenue to be deposited in the county's general fund.
The commission moved and seconded to approve the report with the correction. Commissioner discussion produced a motion to amend Table 3 as previously discussed; the Chair called a voice vote and members responded "aye." The Chair recorded no opposition and the annual report was approved for staff to forward to the Maryland Department of Planning following the clerical fix. The presenter also apologized for a punctuation typo in an agricultural easement figure that will be corrected.
