Child Advocacy Network asks Monroe County to support safe-sleep, training and prevention work

Christy Rogers, executive director of Child Advocacy Network, told the board the organization’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening families and coordinating community partners.
Rogers described specific services the nonprofit provides in Monroe County: safe-sleep education and pack-and-play distribution for hospitals and shelters, car-seat fitting and training, mandated-reporter training expanded to two hours, and NEAR training on neuroscience, epigenetics and resilience. “We provide pack and plays when needed, education to hospitals, homeless shelters,” Rogers said. She also noted a recently awarded grant to implement child abuse prevention training locally and urged community partners to participate in upcoming April awareness activities.
The board thanked the presenters and recognized the organization's outreach and planned fundraising events. Commissioners expressed appreciation for the prevention work and indicated support for community awareness efforts during Child Abuse Prevention Month.
