Sumner senior credits IB and district internship with shaping her public-health path

Shareen, a senior at Sumner Academy, described how participation in the IB Diploma Programme and a KCKPS internship with Vibrant Health confirmed and shaped her interest in public health. Shareen credited the IB curriculum at Sumner with helping her achieve a competitive ACT score, GPA and class rank, and said the combination of rigorous classes and internships helped her decide to pursue public health on a pre-med track at Washington University in St. Louis. She also described earlier experiences such as speech and debate and KCKCC's Saturday Academy that helped her narrow her career focus.
