City says late $70,613.59 state payment relates to completed Van Buren sidewalk; TAP grant budgeted separately

Michael told the council the $70,613.59 shown on the street-department ledger was a late final state payment for a project completed near Van Buren and a local funeral home. "The $70,613.59 is the final payment for the project that was completed up on Van Buren by the nursing home," he said, later correcting the recipient name to Nelson's Funeral Home.
He explained those late payments are separate from the $80,000 budgeted for a new TAP grant sidewalk project and that the two items will be adjusted against each other in a midyear correction. "That 80,000 was budgeted for the new TAP grants for the new sidewalk to be built up there," Michael said; the state pays 80% and the city pays 20% of that grant-funded project, he added. Council members asked for clearer labeling in the packet to avoid confusion between late final payments and budgeted grant amounts.
