The city heard a presentation on the results of a community survey conducted for Pleasant Hill. Julie Stevenson of Portionight Insights presented methodology, response rates, demographics, benchmark comparisons and priority rankings to inform city planning.
Stevenson said the survey was distributed through multiple channels — social media, flyers, physical copies at city hall and phone interviews — and that 690 people started the survey while 592 completed it. She said roughly 538 of those completed responses were verified as residents and summarized that "over 500 people from your community took this survey." The consultant also reported about 152 additional respondents who identified as business owners or other stakeholders and were not included in the verified-resident sample.
The presenter said the respondent pool was broadly similar to census demographics but skewed slightly older and with higher participation among women; the 18–24 age band was underrepresented and could not be reliably cross-tabbed. The team used importance-satisfaction (IS) rankings to identify services with high importance but comparatively low satisfaction and provided benchmarks comparing Pleasant Hill to the KC Metro, a Plains-region benchmark, and a national benchmark. The consultant offered to return with additional cross-tab analysis (for example by park use, precinct, ownership status or income) if the council desired further detail.
The presentation was descriptive and advisory; no council direction or formal action on survey recommendations was recorded at the meeting.
