The Beaufort County Board of Voter Registration and Elections has set a special Republican primary for Tuesday, August 11, the county news bulletin reported. Kevin Libby said the election is being held pursuant to the South Carolina code following the passing of United States Senator Lindsey Graham, and that candidate filing is open through July 28.
Libby outlined voter eligibility and the early voting schedule, saying, “Eligible voters are those who participated in the June Republican primary or did not vote in either party's June primary, while voters who participated in the June Democratic primary are not eligible to vote in this special election.” He added that early voting will run Wednesday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 7 and that polling locations are still being verified.
