Coe highlighted an internal mock audit performed July 7 by the Tennessee Corrections Institute that returned a 100% score with no deficiencies. He said the work-release program has about 26 participants working with six local employers, noted some earn $15–$20 per hour, and said the county realizes a reported $68,016 in savings using inmate labor for community projects.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the program, and the committee approved the report by voice vote. Coe also invited the commission to an August 25 event featuring a former resident speaker and described opportunities to expand employer partnerships.
