Seneca council votes to reissue Shirttail Creek subdivision RFP with September deadline

The Seneca City Council voted July 10 to re-issue the request for proposals for the Shirttail Creek subdivision, with proposals due Sept. 5 and grading scheduled for the Sept. 11 council meeting.
"I move that the City re-issue the RFP for the Shirttail Creek Subdivision with it being due on September 5th for grading at the September 11th Council Meeting," Councilor Barbara Northington said; Councilor Sue Holliday seconded, and Mayor Brad Smith said the motion passed by unanimous vote. City Manager Raamin Burrell said the timeline aims to allow the city to work out procedural issues before lots are awarded and noted most building would not begin until the following spring.
The council also reviewed proposed deed language designed to give the city the ability to reclaim sold parcels if a buyer violates RFP conditions. Burrell said adjustments were needed to protect both buyers and the city; Councilor Matt Wenick asked for more specificity to avoid future disputes. "We need to make sure everything is right and legal so the process goes smoothly," Mayor Smith said.
The re-issued RFP will proceed under the schedule the council adopted; Burrell will prepare and publish the document, and the council indicated it will evaluate proposals in an executive session at the September meeting if needed.
