Sylvania Schools honored a group of students for recent athletic and academic achievements at the board meeting. Board members invited students and families to the front for photos and publicly commended Landon Benz (Southview) for winning the NLL division boys tennis championship and earning OHSAA Division 1 runner‑up honors, Ethan Hutchinson for being a finalist in the Pulitzer Center's Fighting Words poetry contest (global health category), Quinn Bolick for qualifying for the OHSAA state meet in the 400 meters, and Stephen Owen and Julia Bosek for earning All‑Ohio track honors.
"Congratulations," the board member said as each student was introduced and applauded. The board noted it would formally record recognitions as accommodations from the board of education and invited families and coaches to join for photo opportunities after the presentations.
