Town officials said progress continues on South Shore's water and sewer work at the Dec. 9 meeting. The board unanimously approved a $520 pay request to Helm's Engineering tied to the water project, and staff reported that generators have been run and isolating valves installed to aid future leak responses.
Finance Officer Michelle Zirbel told the board the Water Fund showed a negative balance of $41,164.75, which includes an unsent check to J and J Earthworks for project work; the board elected to delay issuance of that payment while searching for grant funding. The meeting record also notes the outstanding sewer loan principal was not available at the time of the meeting.
