Treasurer reports CISA cybersecurity assessment complete and warns of PEIA premium increases

Treasurer Leslie Cummings told the council on Oct. 8 that the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) completed a cybersecurity risk assessment for the town’s water, sewer and billing operations on Oct. 8, 2024. The assessment was described in the meeting minutes as complete; the minutes do not include further details about findings or required remediation steps.
Cummings also reported a projected 14% increase in PEIA premiums for the next fiscal year and said deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums are expected to increase by at least 100% for employees. She said she is scheduling a supervisors’ meeting to develop options to present to the council. The treasurer additionally announced a flu shot clinic scheduled for Oct. 11, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and proposed collecting donations for hurricane victims with possible recipient organizations including Samaritan’s Purse or Cajun Navy 2016.
