Becci Schwarz of the Heritage Commission asked the Selectmen to take a more active role in promoting the Selectmen’s BBQ scheduled for Sept. 12 and requested that Chairman John Quinlan address the event and the Town Hall project.
Schwarz said she has begun coordinating with police and fire about activities and reported construction progress on the Town Hall: "we have finished the north side of the building sills today and will be moving around to the south side starting tomorrow," and she told the board that L‑Chip approved the addition of Lula lift pit footings and the change to place the ADA restroom at the front of the building. Quinlan and other Selectmen agreed to help promote the event and that town leaders should be visible supporters as the project moves toward internal work and finishing items.
Schwarz also raised concerns about members of the public approaching the active construction site; Selectmen and staff said they will look at clearer signage and public messaging while work continues. The construction team aims to complete outstanding items by late July or early August so the town can move to the next phase of the project.
