The Town of Nutter Fort Council on Aug. 13 accepted the first reading of Ordinance 2024‑09, a proposal to authorize the issuance of sewer revenue bonds to finance extensions and improvements to the town’s public sewerage system. The ordinance would permit up to $1,500,000 in Series 2024 A bonds and up to $2,500,000 in Series 2024 B bonds through the West Virginia State Revolving Fund (SRF) program.
Councilor Charlene Louk moved to accept the first reading; Councilor Karen Phillips seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote. The ordinance text as introduced lays out terms for the sale and security of the bonds and authorizes the execution of documents necessary to complete the financing.
The council did not vote to adopt the ordinance at the meeting; acceptance of the first reading moves the proposal forward for additional consideration and required follow‑up. Officials framed the measure as a capital financing step tied to sewer infrastructure needs; the council will consider subsequent readings and final action at a later meeting.
