Public commenter urges caution on patrol car upgrades and backs county software request

"I am not against replacing these patrol cars... but... they are an upgrade... the additional cost to upgrade versus just replacing is an extra $100,000," he told commissioners. He criticized relying on interest earnings for half the purchase cost while the county lacks a five-year maintenance program and long-term plans for 9-1-1 center needs and jail expansion.
Hartman also urged the board to keep the HR and finance software request in the budget, calling it the only productivity spending in the draft and saying it should remain funded. He said commissioners must find other cuts rather than deferring maintenance or long-term planning. The board thanked Hartman for his comments and moved to the scheduled FY27 budget deliberation items.
