Supervisors flag encroachment on Pond 16, request bench placement and algae treatment proposals

Supervisors at the Heritage Pines CDD Sept. 17 meeting discussed multiple operations and maintenance items, including an apparent encroachment at Pond 16, a request to place an additional bench near the front property/Paleo Park, and algae problems in several irrigation holding ponds.
Supervisor Michael Walsh reported that he observed a residence on Pond 16 that installed a pool and a cage and that the construction appeared to be encroaching on the Environmental Design and Resource Area (EDRA), with damage to the bank. Staff said homeowners are responsible for such damage and will monitor the site and address the homeowner at the appropriate time while work continues.
Assistant Supervisor Carol Vaughan said the front property and Paleo Park "look great" and requested the installation of another bench; Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz will meet with her to determine placement. Gatz also told the board that a temporary dam was built near Hole 11 to address an irrigation break.
Separately, Herb Hurley and District Manager Chuck Adams noted algae on Ponds 7, 5 and 11. Adams said he will request a proposal from a contractor experienced in treating problematic irrigation holding ponds in the area. No formal action or funding decision was made at the meeting; staff will return with proposals and any required cost estimates.
