County sets festival funding, Cannery opening and adds school funding after enrollment drop

Deputy County Administrator Matt Hankins told the commission the Board has set aside funding for the Liberty At The Lake festival in 2027 and that staff will debrief and plan changes based on this year’s event. "The Board has set aside funding for the festival next year," Hankins said. Commissioners discussed options for shade at band‑watching areas and the possibility of renting a stage and relocating it to improve spectator comfort.
Ex‑officio Jesse Burnett said the Cannery is scheduled to open July 17 pending inspection. Burnett also reported the county provided an additional $750,000 to support schools after state funding declined because of lower student counts; staff noted the school division had a carryover from under‑spending the previous year. The commission also heard reports about broadband construction delays on Red Hollow Road and local requests for more "Watch for Emerging Traffic" signage at I‑77/I‑81 merge areas.
