City awards Battle Creek Trailhead parking lot contract to Geneva Rock at $1.006M

Public Works Director Neal Winterton told the City Council that bids for the Battle Creek Trailhead parking lot came in well under the engineer's estimate and recommended awarding the work to Geneva Rock Products for a base bid of $1,006,044.50. "They intend to begin work immediately so the project can be completed as quickly as possible, possibly before Memorial Day," Winterton said.
Winterton said there were 14 bidders and the low bid represented a notable reduction from the estimate of about $1.5 million. Council unanimously approved the award and authorized the mayor to sign the notice of award, notice to proceed and the agreement once final contract documents are received and approved. The item will be discussed in more detail at the February 4 Planning and Budget meeting including schedule and warranty terms.
