City staff presented an overview of current and prospective grant-funded projects intended to support infrastructure, emergency response and resilience work.
Jessica (staff) summarized ongoing grants including a Prepare California “jumpstart” grant and a Department of Water Resources emergency-response grant. She said the latter includes local flood- and heat-response planning, map development, notification-system upgrades, and materials/equipment purchases; the city has already purchased two pumps for response use. Jessica said a site visit from grantors is expected next week and that the projects include training that staff has already attended. She also described sidewalk and street work (E, F and H Streets) that may start in December and noted staff are coordinating timelines with contractors.
The presentation also mentioned a funding gap on a specific sidewalk/ADA scope that staff are creatively trying to close (staff described a roughly $20,000–$25,000 gap in the packet discussion) and a potential digital sign purchase to deliver emergency messages. Staff said they will continue coordinating procurement and grant-audit documentation with the city’s auditors and return with updates as key milestones occur.
