Public Works Director Neal Winterton presented an update on planned roadway preservation: a micro-surface application on Main Street and other corridors to extend pavement life for five to seven years, with work scheduled in sections and completion targeted before Strawberry Days. Winterton said a full asphalt replacement for Main Street remains a future need but the micro-surface will provide interim preservation.
Winterton also described outreach from fiber providers (Lumen Technologies and AT&T) proposing phased fiber installation that could require roadway cuts. He said staff has provided the providers with the city's roadway preservation map and asked that cuts not occur on roads slated for micro-surface, with a public information team to coordinate communication. He additionally noted warranty work on the Cook Family Park splash pad and skate-park items; the splash pad will be barricaded briefly to accommodate repairs.
